"We work hard every day of the year caring for our animals so that consumers can eat safe food. We love what we do! I can't imagine not being a dairy farmer!"
- Kris Brock

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT DAIRY FARMING?

The thing I love most about dairy farming is being able to work side-by-side with my family to produce a healthy product for consumers. It is a great feeling to walk with my granddaughters through the barns so they can check on their favorite cows.

HOW DO YOU ENSURE YOUR COWS STAY COMFORTABLE?

Our cow and calf comfort is very important to us. We bed our stalls with a mix of recycled paper sludge and wood shavings. The cows love it! We have natural roof ventilation so they can have fresh air year-round. Also, fans that keep the cows cool in the summer and curtains on the sides to keep them cozy in the colder months.

WHAT MAKES YOU GOOD STEWARDS OF THE LAND?

Without a healthy environment, we wouldn't be able to produce good crops and have clean water. We have a manure pit for year-round storage, enabling us to spread on our cropland at the optimal times. We also use technology to reduce the amount of chemicals needed to grow good crops and work with an agronomist to ensure our soils are healthy.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO ENJOY DAIRY?

Hmmm, that is difficult! I love yogurt parfaits made with vanilla Greek yogurt, fresh fruit and granola. I also love cottage cheese either on pineapple or a salted rice cake (or straight out of the container). Having chocolate milk with my granddaughters. Having ice cream for dinner... the list goes on and on!
