Lotta Latte Love – How to make a Homemade Latte

Coffee is a necessity in my life as a busy working Momma of 2 boys. My go to favorite is a latte for 2 reasons: 1. It has caffeine in it to fuel my adulting and 2. It has 1 out of the 3 servings of dairy I need daily.

I have the easiest, most delicious recipe for a homemade latte that takes just minutes and you don’t need one of those fancy espresso makers.

Yield: I serving

  • 1 cup 1% milk (Feel free to use skim, 2%, or whole milk – your preference)
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 4 ounces strong coffee, brewed (I made mine in my Keurig. I used the 4-ounce setting and pressed strong)

1 glass mason jar

  1. Pour milk, cinnamon, and honey in a mason jar. Put on the lid and shake it up for about 30 seconds, or until the volume doubles.
  2. Take the lid off the mason jar and microwave for 30 seconds.
  3. Pour the milk mixture into your already brewed coffee. Use a spoon to hold off pouring the foam on until last. Use the spoon to put the foam on top of your latte.

Kid Friendly Tips: 1. You can make a kid friendly version of this latte by just omitting the coffee. My son loves his “coffee” or hot milk. 2. Get them involved in the shaking. My kiddos love to shake up the milk.
