ADA North East continues efforts to distribute milk made available through Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) and Nourish New York funding. This week nearly 45,000 gallons will be delivered in New York thanks to collaboration with local dairy cooperatives, processors and community groups.
In total since mid-May, nearly 200,000 gallons have been distributed to families in New York, with milk purchased from Dairy Farmers of America, Upstate Niagara Cooperative and H.P. Hood.
ADA North East board member Joan Smith from Sauquoit, N.Y., and dairy farmer Terri DiNitto of Marcy, N.Y., attended the milk drive in Utica.
“The community outreach is great, and the camaraderie among the volunteers is fantastic,” said Smith. “It’s so important to get all these different organizations together for the needs of the community.”
Drive-through milk distribution events this week include:
- July 14, East Syracuse, N.Y. – 4,300 gallons
- July 15, Utica, N.Y. – 4,000 gallons
- July 16, Sandy Creek, N.Y. – 2,160 gallons
An additional 33,900 gallons will be delivered through the Salvation Army and other community organizations in Brooklyn, Long Island City and at the Fort Drum Army Base.
