Family Physicians Learn Importance of Dairy to Share with Patients

Developing relationships with health professionals is part of ADA North East’s strategy to ensure they receive positive dairy messaging to share with their clients. Last week, more than 300 family physicians at the New York State Academy of Family Physicians annual meeting in Lake Placid, N.Y., learned about the important role of dairy in consumers’ diets from ADA North East staff.

“It’s important for us to have face-to-face time at the NYS Academy of Family Physicians Annual Conference. We’ve learned that physicians love to recommend dairy to their patients so this is a great opportunity for us to share current dairy nutrition information with them.” – ADA North East Nutrition Specialist Michelle Barber.

In addition to exhibiting at the meeting, and sponsoring a dairy breakfast, ADA North East hosted a dinner meeting for 12 leading physicians. Our staff highlighted the Breakfast After the Bell program that makes sure school students have access to milk and dairy foods at breakfast and provided information about flavored milk in schools.
