The Newburgh Enlarged City School District in Newburgh, N.Y., recently reached a milestone in meal distribution for families with students who are learning remotely — more than one million meals served with 8 million ounces – or 62,500 gallons – of milk.

Dairy farmers’ commitment to feeding kids through checkoff school programs has benefited the more than 12,000 students in the district. Through ADA North East, dairy farmers helped the school nutrition staff by providing information on regulations and waivers, such as the option to provide larger sized containers of milk; offering recipe and menu solutions for easy distribution; and essential cooling equipment and carts to serve the meals.
