ADA North East and the Philadelphia Eagles partnered to provide a new cooler to hold yogurt parfaits during the C.C.A. Baldi Middle School’s grab n’ go breakfasts, thanks to the $5,000 Hometown Grant given by the National Football League’s Fuel Up to Play 60 initiative.
The league provides the funds to each team and a partnering local dairy council that work together to identify a school that needs help promoting health and wellness. ADA North East opts to help implement or expand new school breakfast programs by giving the grant to purchase new breakfast equipment.
By implementing new breakfast programs, student meal participation typically grows from 20 to 90 percent which in turn boosts milk sales.
With the addition of this cooler, we’ll be adding to the number of Pennsylvania students participating in breakfast that has already increased by 20,062 students and 15,047 half-pints of milk so far this year.
Dairy farmer Casi Long from Elverson, Pa., participated in a pep rally at the school giving students a face-to-face opportunity with a dairy farmer to build trust in the milk they drink, and to celebrate the new cooler’s arrival. She was joined by three Eagles players – Mack Collins, Jordan Mailata and Corey Clement – as well as Eagles cheerleaders and team mascot Swoop.
