Thanks to dairy farmers’ investment in Fuel Up to Play 60, more than 140 New Jersey families received 429 pizza kits and physical education kits to fuel their kids while doing remote learning.
Benjamin Banneker Academy in the East Orange School District was identified by ADA North East as a Fuel Up to Play 60 school to receive a $10,000 Hometown Grant from the New York Giants. The school used the funds to purchase meal packaging equipment which helped the school food service team set up the to-go pizza kits for students at the Benjamin Banneker Academy.
“After several months of virtual learning due to the pandemic, parents and students at Benjamin Banneker Academy were super excited to get dressed up in their favorite NFL attire to attend the Fuel Up to Play 60 and pizza kit promotional event,â€_x009d_ said East Orange School Nutrition Director Yolanda Shivers. “The Sodexo team, principal, superintendent and students were all energized and eagerly anticipating this festive, yet socially distanced event to promote health and wellness overall.â€_x009d_
