Dairy farmers partnered with Buffalo Public Schools to highlight dairy’s role as a healthy and nutritious school breakfast option during eight live broadcasts on Buffalo’s WIVB on Tuesday, in celebration of National School Breakfast Week (March 8-12). In total, Tuesday’s news clips received 15 placements and more than 20 minutes of airtime.

Because school meals sell more milk, cheese and yogurt, ADA North East facilitated the media opportunity. We worked with the school district’s Food Service Director Bridget O’Brien-Wood who spoke on behalf of dairy farmers about the importance of school breakfast and dairy, and what the district has done in the past 12 months to continue feeding students throughout the pandemic.

This morning, ADA North East and O’Brien-Wood teamed up again with more news coverage from Buffalo’s WKBW-TV with four additional live interviews.

The district’s “Farm to School to Youâ€_x009d_ food truck features locally sourced ingredients, including milk, yogurt, and cheese from western New York dairy farms. Smoothies and parfaits made with yogurt, and burritos made with cheese were prominently displayed throughout the entire morning and were available for students.
