Dairy farmers work to care for their cows and their land – that’s sustainability.

We like to think of dairy cows as mobile recyclers since up to 80% of their diet is food that cannot be eaten by humans. A good portion of that would end up in a landfill if cows weren’t there to eat it. And that’s just the beginning of dairy sustainability.

Growing healthy and nutritious cow feed is just one way that dairy farmers work to improve the land they care for. Many dairy farmers recycle water and re-use manure.  They increasingly utilize energy-efficient lighting and farm equipment. New technologies allow them to increase production while protecting natural resources.
