As part of American Dairy Association North East’s New Jersey Farm to School Summit for the state’s school food nutrition decision-makers, Dan and Sarah Lyness of Spring Run Dairy in Pittston, New Jersey, hosted an on-fam tour.
The Farm to School program helps students and school food professionals understand where the milk and dairy foods served in school meals come from, and the role local dairy farmers play in sustainably producing the nutritious products.
ADA North East CEO John Chrisman was joined by New Jersey Agriculture Secretary Ed Wengryn, and other regional and state child nutrition experts and school food service directors.
Participants enjoyed Spring Run Dairy ice cream and cheese during the event.
