Dina Zug, ADA North East board member from Mifflinburg, Pa., represented all dairy farmers on World Milk Day at the kickoff of the Fill a Glass with Hope® June retail campaign with Weis Markets.

To celebrate National Dairy Month this month, customers can round up their grocery payments at Weis Markets’ checkout to help fight hunger with funds going to Fill a Glass with Hope.

“I’m proud to represent my fellow dairy farmers to highlight the importance of the Fill A Glass With Hope campaign,” said Zug. “This initiative showcases our dedication for producing wholesome, nutritious milk, and also for ensuring it is accessible to families in our communities throughout the state.”

Milk is one of the most requested items at food banks but one of the least donated due to perishability. Pennsylvania dairy farmers recognized the need in their communities and initiated Fill a Glass with Hope with ADA North East, Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association and Feeding Pennsylvania. Since 2015, more than 27 million servings of milk have been distributed.

Donations will be distributed to the following local food banks to purchase milk: Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, Helping Harvest, Philabundance, Second Harvest Food Bank of NEPA and the Lehigh Valley, and the Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank.
