This week, dairy education was a key topic at the Pennsylvania Educator’s Ag Institute, hosted by the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. ADA North East presented two different sessions to high school educators and to elementary and middle school teachers to highlight our dairy education programs that align with Core Curriculum standards and help connect Gen Z students with how their food is produced.
ADA North East highlighted our virtual farm tour program and dairy educational lesson plans, and along with the Center for Dairy Excellence, discussed Discover Dairy and the Adopt a Cow program.
ADA North East sponsors 14 teachers to attend the institute, one of whom was dairy farmer Melissa Risser from Meadow Vista Dairy in Bainbridge, Pa.
“The Educator’s Ag Institute is a great opportunity for educators to learn about all areas of agriculture, and how to incorporate that information into our daily teachings with easy-to-use labs and activities to help spark learning and increase engagement for students. As a dairy farmer, I was grateful to have this inspiring experience that will be so valuable to my students.” – Melissa Risser
