SKANEATELES, N.Y. (May 11, 2026) – Thousands of students from Central New York and beyond will soon have the chance to visit a local dairy farm — without ever leaving their classroom.
American Dairy Association North East is teaming up with Twin Birch Dairy in Skaneateles, N.Y., for a free virtual farm tour on Friday, May 15 at 1 p.m. Hosted by dairy farmer Jeremy Brown, the interactive farm experience will feature three stops across the farm including the cow barn, calf barn and milking parlor. During the tour, Brown will answer students’ questions in real time and discuss topics such as animal care, sustainability, and what daily life looks like on a modern dairy farm.
Along with the virtual tour, American Dairy Association North East is providing participating schools with free lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, helping educators extend the experience beyond the live event.
“I’m excited to partner with American Dairy Association North East to host a Virtual Farm Tour this spring,” says Brown. “As a farmer, it’s important to me to help educate young people and show them where their food comes from. Welcoming students and teachers to our farm virtually allows me to interact with a much broader audience than hosting them in person. My goal is to show how and what we do on the farm to sustainably produce food that ultimately ends up in their bellies. Additionally, I have two sons in elementary school, so I get to share their experience as ‘farm kids’ with their peers.”
Brown previously partnered with American Dairy Association in 2023 for “Chef Meets Farm” where he teamed up with Emmy Award-winning culinary producer and food stylist Chef Anthony Contrino to prepare a favorite summer dish.
Twin Birch Dairy is home to more than 1,900 cows and has been recognized nationally for its sustainability practices. The farm will be the 20th dairy farm in New York to host a virtual farm tour with American Dairy Association North East, and the fourth in Central New York, joining Aurora-Oakwood Dairy of Auburn (2025), Elmer Richards & Sons of Skaneateles (2024) and Beck Farms of Freeville (2022).
American Dairy Association North East has been working with local dairy farmers to bring their farms to the classroom since 2018. The program has attracted more than 1.5 million views. Previously recorded tours are available to view here.
