Registrations are open through Sept. 15 for Adopt a Cow, the free year-long classroom experience that ADA North East supports through the Center for Dairy Excellence. In the 2021-2022 school year, 28,000 classrooms from across the country participated in the program.

The program shows students what happens on a dairy farm by allowing them to “adopt” a calf from a local farm family. The students are provided monthly updates along with classroom activities and ideas.

Adopt a Cow is part of the Center for Dairy Excellence’s Discover Dairy program, designed to bring the dairy farmer into classrooms. An engaging, interactive, cross-curricular, multi-level lesson series, it meets Pennsylvania state education standards and anchors for science, math and reading, while incorporating social studies concepts to show students where milk comes from and how dairy farms contribute to our communities and world.
