Summer Meals Delivers About $618K in Publicity Value

Beginning in late June and throughout summer, when children are on vacation from school, the Summer Food Service Program serves thousands of free, healthy meals with milk daily to children 18 and under at approved sites. Our public relations team helps promote the Summer Meals events within our region.

  • In Maryland, Baltimore’s free summer meals kickoff generated six news stories with a total publicity value of over $86,000, including prominent coverage on WBAL TV NBC Baltimore and in the Baltimore Sun.
  • The Summer Meals event in Pine Bush, New York, was featured on News 12 Westchester, Spectrum News, and in the Mid-Hudson News.
  • The Union City, Pennsylvania Area School District program was highlighted in the Corry Journal.
  • The Buffalo, New York, Summer Meals event resulted in 27 news stories including coverage on WIVB TV CBS and WGRZ TV NBC.

In total, this summer’s campaign garnered 218 news placements, reaching 5.25 million people and delivering an estimated $618,000 in publicity value.

In July, we saw results of the final National Dairy Month installment of WSYR TV’s Bridge Street dairy series deliver a powerful message with Understanding the 3 Ps of Dairy: Protein, Price and Perception, featuring registered dietitian Emily (Tills) Gozy, who broke down dairy’s nutritional value, affordability, and consumer appeal.

Dairy Recipe Inspiration from Weiss

Pennsylvania families got fresh dairy inspiration during National Dairy Month thanks to ADA North East’s retail partnership with Weis Markets, which led to local TV stories on WFMZ TV 69 Berks County Pa and WHTM TV ABC Harrisburg, showcasing easy, nutritious dairy recipes. The two stories resulted in a combined publicity value of $19,192.
