American Dairy Association North East coordinated a tour for 27 attendees of the Chesapeake Watershed Forum to Valley Ho Farm owned by Chris and Jamie Derr in Middletown, Maryland.
Collaborating with environmental groups is a key part of ADA North East’s efforts to highlight dairy farmers’ commitment to sustainably producing milk. Attendees represented conservation organizations, educational groups and government employees who were able to see first-hand the practices farmers use to protect their land and water resources.
One participant said, “The tour offered a great combination of business, agriculture and sustainability from the family farm perspective.”
