To help build trust and understanding of dairy on a global scale, dairy farmer and American Dairy Association North East Industry Relations Specialist Kelsey O’Shea of Mapleview Dairy in Madrid, N.Y., recently participated in a virtual field trip education program produced by Dairy Management Inc., (DMI) the national dairy checkoff, with Discovery Educationâ„¢. The Undeniably Dairy “Farming to the Futureâ€_x009d_ series focused on how dairy farmers care for their animals and their commitment to sustainable farming practices.
DMI selected Discovery Education, a global leader in standards-based digital curriculum resource for K-12 classrooms, to produce this educational piece. The dairy series also included Leslie Bonci, a sports dietitian, National Dairy Council ambassador, and member of ADA North East’s Sports Nutrition Advisory Panel, who spoke about how dairy can help build strong bodies. Others featured in the series were dairy farmer and “New Mexico Milkmaid Tara Vander Dussen and celebrity chef and dairy advocate Carla Hall.
