Today, Slade, Kristin and Merritt Cox from Ox Cart Dairy in Cato, N.Y., joined ADA North East, the Food Bank of Central New York and other local community organizations to provide 800 boxes of milk, dairy products and other food to local families in Oswego, N.Y., through the Farmers to Families Food Box program with USDA’s Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) government-funded grants.

“As dairy farmers, helping feed communities in this way reminds us why we do what we do. Our community supports us, and we want to be there for them.” — Slade Cox

ADA North East has worked with USDA-approved vendors, local dairy processors and community organizations who received the CFAP government-funded grants to coordinate the distribution and make it possible for the community groups to provide the much-needed milk and food.

Together, we helped distribute more than 900,000 gallons of milk via more than 200 drive-through and drop-off events throughout the region since April 2020.

This Saturday, April 17, farmers will also support another milk and food drive at the Madrid-Waddington Central School in St. Lawrence County, N.Y. Local fire and rescue first responders will also assist in the event.
